King Pro Boxing Revo versus standard shin guards

The main difference between the King Pro Boxing Revo and simpler shin guards lies in the fastening system and fit. Whilst basic models often make do with a single velcro strap or sock construction only, the Revo combines two sturdy velcro closures with elastic straps around the heel and foot. This hybrid system prevents the guards from shifting or rotating during sparring. Standard shin guards are often lighter and quicker to put on, but offer less stability during intense legwork. The Revo is therefore the better choice if you spar regularly and value guards that really stay in place, even during heavy combinations and low kicks.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose the right size King Pro Boxing shin guards?

Measure your shin length from just below the knee to the top of your ankle and compare this with the King Pro Boxing size chart. Note: the sizes in the chart refer to the dimensions of the shin guard itself, not your body height. Also check the circumference of your calf at its widest point, as the double velcro strap must have sufficient overlap to close properly.

Are these shin guards suitable for competitions?

The King Pro Boxing Revo shin guards are primarily intended for sparring and training. For competitions, it depends on the rules of your federation: some organisations prescribe specific models or thinner guards. Always check the competition regulations before using these guards during competition. For intensive sparring sessions, they offer excellent protection.

Can I use these shin guards for MMA as well?

These shin guards are designed for kickboxing and Muay Thai, where you remain upright. For MMA training they are less suitable because the elastic straps and velcro closures can hinder ground work and wrestling. For MMA, choose lighter, more streamlined shin guards or specific MMA shinguards that also provide protection during takedowns.

How do I maintain synthetic leather shin guards?

Wipe the King Pro Boxing shin guards after each training session with a damp cloth to remove sweat and bacteria. Then let them dry completely in a ventilated area, away from direct sunlight. Never wash them in the washing machine, as this damages the synthetic leather and padding. For stubborn odours, you can use a special sports disinfectant spray.

What is the difference between the Revo and other King Pro Boxing shin guards?

The Revo series distinguishes itself through the combination of double velcro strap and elastic straps around the heel and foot, which provides maximum stability. Other King Pro Boxing models sometimes have a sock construction or single closure. The Revo offers thick padding and high-quality synthetic leather, making this series aimed at sparrers who prioritise reliable protection and fit during intense training.

Do these shin guards fit over boxing shoes?

Yes, the King Pro Boxing Revo shin guards are designed to be worn over your boxing shoes or kickboxing shoes. The elastic strap under the foot and around the heel ensures they stay in place even with shoes on. Put your shoes on first, then the shin guards, and fasten the velcro straps firmly but not too tight to avoid restricting blood circulation.
