Shin Guards

In short: Shin guards Muay Thai are available from €16.95 in sizes from XXS to XL. For serious training we recommend models like the Caged Shadow from €69.95 with reinforced protection and anatomical fit, while beginners are well protected with the Venum Challenger or Kontact.

Which shin guards Muay Thai do you need?

Shin guards Muay Thai protect your shins and instep during low kicks, knee techniques and sparring. Unlike pure kickboxing models, they often offer additional protection on the instep, as in Muay Thai you also kick with the top of the foot. The range extends from simple entry-level models from €16.95 to competition-ready shin guards for €139.95. The choice depends on your training level, intensity and the level of padding you require.

Sizes and fit

Shin guards Muay Thai are available in sizes XXS to XL. The size depends on your height and the length of your shin: S usually fits up to 170 cm, M from 170 to 180 cm, L from 180 cm upwards. A good fit is crucial – the shin guard must cover the shin completely without slipping. Elastic straps or Velcro fasteners ensure a secure hold. Shin guards that are too short leave sensitive areas exposed; those that are too long restrict mobility.

Material and padding

Most models are made from synthetic leather with foam padding. High-quality shin guards use multi-layer foam that absorbs impacts better and lasts longer. Breathable mesh panels on the back prevent overheating during intensive sessions. Cheaper models from €16.95 offer basic protection for technical training, while premium shin guards between €69.95 and €139.95 feature thicker padding and reinforced stitching for harder sparring.

Our recommendation by budget

In the premium segment, the Caged Shadow from €69.95 is the first choice for serious training and competition. Twins and King also offer proven quality in this price range for advanced fighters.

Common questions

Which shin guards Muay Thai are the best choice?

For beginners, the Venum Kontact or Challenger from €16.95 are a solid entry point with sufficient padding for technical training and light sparring. What size do I need for shin guards?

The size depends on your height: S up to about 170 cm, M from 170 to 180 cm, L from 180 cm upwards. The shin guard must cover your shin from knee to ankle without slipping or restricting movement. Almost half of customers choose M, about a third L. If in doubt, try both sizes to find the best fit.

What is the difference between kickboxing and Muay Thai shin guards?

Muay Thai shin guards often also protect the instep, as in Muay Thai you kick with the top of the foot. Kickboxing models usually focus on the shin. However, both types can be used for both sports as long as they fit well and offer sufficient padding. Look for secure fastening with Velcro or elastic straps so that the shin guard doesn't slip during kicks and knee techniques.
